Children’s Perspectives

Reflections on activity days at BCF 2008

"The forest is a special place because it is safe from all the housing and I love the fact that kids have played a very important role in making it like that.  Children can make a difference and the Forest is a great example of that." (Maya, aged 13)

"The forest is a beautiful and peaceful place and us kids can go there and enjoy ourselves.  We look after it and learn about the plants and animals." (Shelby, aged 10 )

"The forest is an important home for Australian animals and native plants.  I like joining in with all the activities at the forest to look after everything."(Tegan, aged 10)

My favourite part of the day was tree planting because it’s growing nature around Baldivis. (Mitchell M., age 8) I planted three. (Mitchell F., age 8) I like planting and watering at my house too. (Tyson, age 8)

My favourite part was tree planting because I liked getting soil and water for people. The men were nice because they encouraged me. (Sean, age 8)

I liked the Aboriginal songs and touching the fur off the animal. (Lee, age 7) We sang “Nyoongar Nyoongar”. (Mitchell F. age 8) I like learning Nyoongar language because I like wooden animals. (Ben, age 6)
